Phytaa, Helsinki region, Finland

Creating a leading project for regional regeneration based on tourism and culture. We were commissioned for a major planning, development advisory, zoning, and the design of this headlining project that went through planning processes for 6 years, focusing on Finnish wellness traditions and luxury Nordic living.

area: 105 hectares and a build area of 228,200 ft² (21,200 m²)

client: municipality of phytaa

Gathering data and analysis, we worked on the national, regional and local levels to develop a concept, business plan and a master plan for a 105 hectare hospitality and tourism development in a picturesque island east of Helsinki.

Included in the project was a 58 key hotel along with 80 holiday homes/cabins. Important to regional culture, indoor and outdoor spas were central to the design philosophy, with a modern Finnish approach to mindfulness, wellness and tourism.
