”I took my inspiration from the space; the great height and the walls which needed texture and a bit of life added to them. I wanted to make the space alive with a discreet opulence that was luxurious and allow the clients to introduce artworks into the rooms that we had found together.

The client had the idea to knock through walls in an attempt to open up the flat and provide it with a feeling of space and light. I took this idea and translated it through simplification - introducing mirrors to give the impression of space and to balance the height of the rooms by creating an illusion of a deeper room. And it is easier to put in a mirror than to take out a wall.

The client and I both have an affinity for Art Deco design so we tried to keep the line of the furniture simple and chic, like with my "Bucket Sofa" which has an elegance and understated refinement. Most of the furniture is neutral so that the bursts of colour from the artwork or the wonderful, unique glasswork can speak for themselves. That's what this flat is about, finding out the space to speak for yourself." Rabih Hage
