Johnny Swing

Johnny Swing is a New York-based artist who has been creating unusual art furniture and art installations, including railing and street sign sculptures, for over 15 years. Swing cites the extraordinary Watts Towers in Los Angeles and the natural wonders of the sea to be a constant source of inspiration to him.

His Nickel Couch and Penny Chair are entirely upholstered with a sinuous 'fabric' of coins intricately welded together. Both of these incredible designs were exhibited to great critical acclaim at the 2001 International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York City.

Other conceptual furniture pieces can be seen in his unusual installation projects, such as a New York subway car that displayed tables constructed of working TV monitors.

Swing's fantastic creations have been profiled on CNN "Weekend Edition", and across American National Public Radio and newspapers.
