Factory Dorms Hotel
Berlin, Germany
A listed building in the Mite district in Berlin. Administrative constraints - a conservation area and a listed building where a challenging new interior programme was required for this 1920’s building which previously housed the headquarters of the government of East Germany. Other challenges: Tight budget and timeframe.
We designed a box within an box, making the lower floors multifunctional and easy to manage: rent out for parties, music rehearsals and art exhibitions.
The Hotel is a group of several big artists’ apartments fitted out with a low number of bathrooms and a system of furniture that can accommodate a big number of guests; sleeping in connecting bunk beds which become guest capsules within each apartment.
